Cape Cod Beer Joins Nation in Celebrating

American Craft Beer Week, May 15th -21st

Hyannis – May 5, 2006: From May 15th to 21st, Cape Cod Beer joins brewers all over America celebrating American Craft Beer Week.  The week calls attention to the 1,400 small, independent and traditional brewers around the United States and invites every American to visit their local brewery.

“I am a proud to be a member of the craft brewing community and support the celebration of American Craft Beer Week.” explains Todd Marcus, Brewmaster and President of Cape Cod Beer.  “ I think it’s important to educate people about the history of brewing and the contributions made by small local breweries – who provide more than 33,000 jobs nationwide, support the local economy where they operate and uphold an American tradition of entrepreneurial craftsmanship.  We are Cape Cod’s only local brewery and take great pride in providing a fresh high-quality hand-crafted product.”

American Craft Beer Week is sponsored by the Brewers Association, a national trade organization for small brewers, of which Cape Cod Beer is a member.  During the week, the Brewer’s Association is offering consumers a chance to win prizes and awards by visiting some of the country’s 1,400 craft brewers as a part of the Great American Beer Tour.  By visiting local breweries like Cape Cod Beer, they can earn points toward free pint glasses, embroidered shirts and even a grand prize trip to the 25th Great American Beer Festival being held in Denver September 28-30.  For full details, rules and entry forms, see www.GreatAmericanBeerTour.org.

Cape Cod Beer will be hosting tours on Saturday at 1pm, or by appointment.  During the tour, guests will meet the brewer and hear his description of how beer is made while getting a chance to see and sample the raw ingredients such as malt and hops.  It is a unique chance to see the inside of a working brewery!  Cape Cod Beer will also be selling “Growlers” of its fresh, local beer, Wednesday thru Friday noon to 6pm and on Saturday from 11 to 2pm.  A “Growler” is a 64 oz refillable amber bottle, and is a tradition in the craft beer industry.  Growlers can be refilled at the brewery.
